The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Healthcare Technologies Student and Early Career Awards 2017 took place in London on the 20th of June, with the aim to improve the world through engineering. With a total of three award categories, this competition reviews background, knowledge, methodology, results, discussion and conclusions of all applications. Two EDEN2020 researchers (Marlene Pinzi and Ilias Konstantinou) participated with their work on steerable needle modelling and tracking and were rewarded for their hard work in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Marlene Pinzi joined the Mechatronics in Medicine (MIM) group as an undergraduate in 2016, followed by her enrollment in a PhD programme in January 2017. She won the Vicon prize for Best Undergraduate Poster Presentation.
Ilias Konstantinou is a Thermofluids PhD student at Imperial College since October 2016 and he was a finalist for Best Medical Engineering Undergraduate Project.
