The World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) held its sixth international Symposia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 15th-19th August 2018. This prestigious event attracted leading professionals in the field of neurosurgery and provided ample opportunity for EDEN2020 to be represented.
As part of our Consortium member’s commitment to successfully disseminate our project, Ass. Prof. Marco Riva of The University of Milan (UMIL) attended and presented as a faculty speaker for the main Symposia. His presentation entitled ‘Enhanced Technological Ecosystem to Shape Precision Neurosurgery’ provided an overview of EDEN2020 with particular focus on how the advancements made in this project have the potential to positively impact on neurosurgery techniques which would ultimately benefit those affected by brain disease.

Brain diseases are growing fast. Better imaging, a broader understanding of the brain functional anatomy and pathogenesis are essential to improve patient outcomes.
Current neurosurgical practice for diagnostics and therapy is not yet empowered to maximize and tailor therapeutic effectiveness according to the individual clinical stage and molecular profile throughout the course of the disease.
This lecture is aimed at exploring recent advancements in multimodal pre-surgical diagnostics, intra-operative imaging and mechatronics, investigating their impact and potential to shape neurosurgery in an era when precision medicine looms.
